Great News! The Craft Marquee Is Even Bigger This Year.

With its new location and bigger marquee, we hope to give our visitors a more substantial choice of crafts than ever before. It seems more and more younger people are pursuing their hobbies as careers, in recent years and we are all too happy to make room for additional local crafters to showcase their talents at the show.

The Craft and Produce Marquee is now FULL for 2018, but look what we have to offer this year:

THE CRAFT HOUSE – The Craft House is a local independent business which runs exciting arts and crafts workshops for adults and sells a range of British (often very local) designed and made cards, prints, knitted and crocheted items, handmade jewellery, ceramics, wooden objects and glass ware. MARGARET NAYLOR CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY DESIGN – Handcrafted sterling silver jewellery made locally. Margaret’s jewellery design is primarily influenced by the connectivity between elements in their raw state and their potential to be made into expressive items of jewellery. ABWOOD ARTS – A member of the British Woodcarvers Association, Jim Macmorran creates framed unique abstract wood carvings.

GARY THOMAS CERAMICS – Hand thrown studio ceramics both decorative and functional and drawings, paintings and prints. Gary won Best Newcomer at Potfest in the Pens (Penrith) and his work demonstrates a continual development of new ceramics. Check Gary out on Instagram – @garythomasceramics

AMY PANDA – Hand sewn felt badges, brooches and home décor. Amy’s products use eco-fi, a felt made from recycled plastic bottles and are heavily influenced by Yorkshire wildlife and plants. CAST IRON PRESS – Cast Iron Press is a printmaker working mainly in relief – lino and woodcut – and also sometimes in dry point etching and screen print. Her subjects are based around nature – plants, animals and sea life. She makes framed and unframed prints, greetings cards, handmade notebooks, cushions and aprons. Each of her relief designs is drawn, cut by hand and then individually printed on her vintage cast iron book press, making each print individual, as no two pulls are ever identical. Her press weighs 105kilos and she had to invest in an engine bench to prevent her floor collapsing!

ANN DAVIES, ARTIST – Visit Saltaire artist Ann’s stall for watercolour paintings of the local area, cards and prints. Ann seems to be getting a reputation for painting greenhouses and glasshouses. Following a very successful exhibition in 2017 at Scampston Walled Garden, she secured several more events focusing on glasshouses. In 2018 she has exhibited in RHS Harlow Carr and Burton Agnes garden and will be showing work soon at Ripley Castle and Cliffe Castle Museum. Recently seen on SkyArts’ Landscape Artist of the Year, Ann also won a Sentinel Gallery Exhibition Prize at Royal Watercolour Society 2018 and was selected for the Royal Watercolour Society, London Contemporary Watercolour Exhibition in both 2016 and 2018. ONE LAST PICTURE – An experienced, qualified photographer offering a range of services from weddings to pet portraits as well as leading photography workshops. Selling creative photographic prints and cards of nature and landscape imagery, all produced in-camera (limited editing process) with highly skilful ability. FAYE HALL DESIGN – Hand printed and hand embroidered leather accessories. Faye’s products are unique and explore colour, surface and pattern to create a range of wearable and decorative leather jewellery and bags. A Scholarship prize winner at The Glasgow School of Art, Faye’s items are hand cut, bonded, hand printed and embroidered using ethically sourced leather as a base. This lengthy process allows Faye the freedom to create pieces that really experiment with colour and surface, whilst producing a unique piece every time. SVEN SHAW ILLUSTRATION – Visit Sven’s stall for original hand illustrated prints, tea towels, t-shirts, mugs, coasters, aprons and other gifts. Sven hand draws all his illustrations in pen and ink and then colours them digitally. He likes to add a lot of humour into his work, which often has a local flavour (he lives and works in Saltaire). Sven is confident that his Salts Mill picture has the most famous Yorkshire folk ever drawn in a single picture! Check Sven out on Instagram – @svenshaw

SEVEN HANDS – Seven Hands is a local mixed media artist and every single hand-crafted piece she makes is unique and bespoke. She is inspired by colour and pattern, with certain shapes cropping up repeatedly, such as the spiral. Each unique hand-crafted piece has a story attached which you will usually find on the back of her pieces. The hands on her logo each depict a different aspect of her work, e.g. textile work, sketchbooks etc. Visit Seven Hands’ stall for framed gilded clay pieces, framed free stitch landscapes, original handmade cards, wooden fairies and hanging textile ammonites.

EDWARD STREET BAKERY – Edward Street Bakery is an independent craft bakery based in Saltaire. Pop ups at 1 Myrtle Place, Saltaire as well as being out and about at Shows and events. THE KALIDEIDOSOAP COMPANY – Since Keighley based Sally changed from gardening to soap making in 2012 she hasn’t looked back and much favours the warm scented indoors to the muddy wet outdoors. Come and visit Sally and treat your nose to an explosion of scent and feast your eyes over an array of good enough to eat soaps, bath bombs, wax melts and candles. ANGEL HEART – Claire confesses her first craft stall was at the age of 12 to save for a bike, and many (30 something) years later she is still going strong! Mainly angel focused,but Claire’s crafts have something for all ages.

WHITBY JET – Whitby Jet offers a beautiful selection of jet and gemstone jewellery, all hand crafted by Mr Binns.

FRIARY LIQUEURS – Fancy a tipple, then visit Friary’s Liqueurs. Geoff informs us that he supplied the cast and staff of “Downton Abbey, so your in fine company…” if these Fruit and Specialty Liqueurs are your thing. STONE CENTRE – The hands behind these silver and semi precious stone jewellery items and miniature animal ornaments collection, have been in the business for 29 years.

FRAIS PUBLISHING –  Tony Frais of Frais Publishing writes, illustrates and prints his own books. ‘Noahs Rocket’ won ‘Children’s Book of The Year’ in 2004, the book is dyslexic friendly and is effective for your little reluctant reader..

BRIGGS ART – Living locally Maxine enjoys nothing more than putting pencil to paper to draw British wildlife and other animals in the best setting of all, the Yorkshire countryside. BIJOU BESTIARY – Bingley-based Mal has a wide variation to her products from handmade jewellery to home décor and sewn plush items including novelty travel pillows, Mal even uses ethically sourced animal bones and teeth in some of her creations. FINE ART BY SHAUN – Shaun is lucky enough to sit in his attic studio overlooking Baildon Moor and do what he does best DRAW. CONDIMENTAL HOMEMADE JAMS & CHUTNEYS – Chris & Kath Bedford make some of the best locally sourced jams, chutneys and sauces. I have it on good authority that HRH Princess Anne, stopped to have a taste of their mango chutney! I suggest you stop and have a taste test of whatever takes your fancy too. FUDGE FACTORY – Wow! the Fudge Factory has around 30 flavours and been a family-run business for over 30 years too. I’m not sure all the flavours will all be at the show, but if you have a sweet tooth then this is the perfect craft marquee destination for you.
